On Saturday January 17, 2015 the Maple Producers Association of Nova Scotia (MPANS) held its annual general meeting at the Riverview Room, Jenkins Hall, Dalhousie University Agricultural Campus in Bible Hill. Fifty one people attended the day-long event which included the MPANS business meeting and presentations from several people about: various government programs, the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture, succession planning, an upcoming cost of production survey, and the Maple Research Programme. There was also discussion about the new maple grading standards.
Amendments to the MPANS Constitution and By-Laws were made to reduce the number of directors from nine to six, and to reduce the number of directors needed for a quorum at a board meeting from four plus the president to four including the president.
The MPANS President for 2015 is Kevin McCormick from Rodney, Cumberland County. Other directors are Drew Hunter, Avard Bentley, David Dickinson, Ralph Rix and Jeff Perrin.
